Byblos Bank Armenia stands by 90-year-old YSU Faculty of Economics and Management
On October 31, a solemn session dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the YSU Faculty of Economics and Management was held at Yerevan’s Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall.
The event marked the conclusion of the Faculty’s jubilee celebrations whose general sponsor was Byblos Bank Armenia.
Following the red-carpet ceremony, around 1,300 guests gathered for the event's opening, where speeches were delivered by YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Dean of the YSU Faculty of Economics and Management Karlen Khachatryan, and Byblos Bank Armenia CEO Hayk Stepanyan.
"For 90 years, the Faculty of Economics and Management has been a vital hub of economic education and economic thought in Armenia. It's especially noteworthy to highlight the faculty's role in shaping the economy of independent Armenia. At Byblos Bank Armenia, we firmly believe in the transformative power of education. Our commitment to supporting education goes beyond financial contributions; it stems from a deep-seated belief that education is the cornerstone of our society, fostering innovation, leadership, and development"; Hayk Stepanyan noted in his speech.
"Indeed, the past 90 years have seen numerous challenges, achievements, and victories. When the faculty was established in 1934, Armenia's economy faced significant difficulties. During those tough times, the faculty emerged as the key center for shaping, spreading, and advancing economic thought in the country. For nine decades, it has honorably fulfilled its mission of training skilled specialists for the economy"; Karlen Khachatryan remarked.
The bank received a special recognition for its support of events celebrating the 90th anniversary of the faculty's establishment. CEO Hayk Stepanyan, meanwhile, was awarded a commemorative medal from the YSU Faculty of Economics and Management in recognition of his long-term effective collaboration with the faculty and his significant support for scientific and educational initiatives.
A special video about the faculty was screened during the event, featuring memories from alumni and highlighting the faculty's impact on their lives.
The jubilee year at the faculty was marked by several significant events, including the publication of anillustrated book-album that summarizes the faculty's rich 90-year history.
