Azerbaijan Attacks Artsakh; Baku Claims “Counterterrorism Measures”

Azerbaijan launched a large-scale attack against Artsakh Tuesday afternoon.
The Artsakh Representation in Armenia says the capital Stepanakert, other cities and villages were subjected to intense artillery shelling.
“The sound of explosions can be heard in Stepanakert right now,” a local journalist, Marut Vanyan, told RFE/RL’s Armenian Service. “Screaming children, their parents went down to basements for cover.”
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry released a statement saying it is taking “counterterrorism measures” against Karabakh Armenian forces in order to restore the Azerbaijani “constitutional order” in Karabakh.
The Armenia-Azerbaijan border remains calm, Armenia’s Defense Ministry said.
